Hackers are Eyeing the Adobe Account System as Adobe Gets More and More Users
While Adobe's Creative Cloud service is attracting PC users, Adobe also recently released Adobe Lightroom for Android/iOS to serve the growing number of smartphone users worldwide. As more and more people download Adobe’s products, its Creative Cloud service will accumulate more and more private user information, as well as proprietary work-related data (e.g. product design schematics). Because of this, cybercriminals have started to target the Adobe account system in order to get their hands on this rapidly-expanding data goldmine.
Recently, Baidu Antivirus Security Center monitored multiple series of phishing attacks on Adobe accounts. Analysis by Baidu Antivirus security experts has shown that these phishing attacks targeting the Adobe account system very likely came from spam emails received by Adobe users. When users click the phishing link in the email, they have already entered a trap set by cybercriminals. Some people may naively think they are on the official Adobe site, and once they enter their Adobe account and password information, it will immediately be sent to a server specified by the cybercriminals. In this sneaky way, users' Creative Cloud data is at risk of being stolen or leaked, according to Baidu Antivirus security experts.
Based on the most recently intercepted Adobe phishing cases, there are currently only a few such phishing sites, which can be seen in the following screenshots. Baidu Antivirus Security Center would like to remind users to be highly vigilant of these phishing attacks. When entering your account and password on any website (not only Adobe’s), it is essential to ensure that the site is not an elaborate fake. The easiest way to check is by looking at the website’s URL.
Currently, Baidu Antivirus users can intercept common Adobe phishing attacks when users enable all of its security defense features. Users that do not have Baidu Antivirus yet can download it for free at http://antivirus.baidu.com .
